Personal Testimony

I grew up in a church going family, but I did not accept Christ as my savior until I was 17. I went to all the church conferences but only to have fun and to meet new friends. My friend and I were planning to meet up at one of these conferences, but he never showed up, so I decided to leave. As I was walking away from the conference hall, I began to pray for the Lord’s guidance. I felt that I needed to go back.

At the conference, I saw many praising God and jumping for joy in worship, but I could not join them. Then on the last day, the preacher asked if any amongst us wanted to surrender their life to Christ. I decided to follow Christ then. The preacher prayed with me and anointed me with oil. When I returned to my seat, I could not stop myself from jumping with the rest as tears of joy streamed down my face.

After the conference, I wanted to share my experience with others, so I joined an outreach ministry. I attended a mission training school and served in many places in Sudan. Throughout my ministry, I felt the Church’s need for leaders who can move it towards missional work. That is why I am studying theology. My vision is to help spread the gospel and the love of Christ to others in Sudan and move the Church there towards a focus on mission. I want to teach and encourage others. Studying at seminary will help me be formed into a leader who has the technical skills and the spiritual awareness to help the Church in Sudan spread the Word of God.

Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS)

With the unprecedented influx of new Arab believers in Christ, the need arises for more theologically trained Arab Church leaders who heed God’s Word and can engage their communities in relevant ways. The Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) is strategically positioned to fill that need.

The mission of ABTS is to serve the Church in our region as it realizes its Biblical mission of having Christ acknowledged as Lord by offering specialized learning resources and equipping faithful men and women for effective service. Since its inception in 1960, the Seminary has graduated several hundred students from Algeria, Egypt, India, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia. Several hundreds more have benefited from short-term and other non-degree programs. The great majority of these graduates are now actively engaged in ministry in the Arabic-speaking world.

ABTS’s vision for the region is to see God glorified, people reconciled, and communities restored through the Church in the Arab world. We seek to achieve this by providing foundational education, biblical-theological formation, and ministerial training that is contextually relevant for the Arab world for active church servants and leaders in the region.
