Personal Testimony
I come from
apastor's
family, so since my childhood, I have seen and
experiencedthe joyful moments in
the ministry and also the tough moments. Throughout the years
even when I was schooling, I felt that the Lord
hada plan and a calling
over my life to serveHim
andHis
people.So,right after college I
joined the ministry and Colombo Theological Seminary for my
studies in Theology andthey haveshaped me and brought me
to whatI am today. I have
always had theconvictionthat if Iamtogo out to the world to
preachand teachGod'sWord
I need to befullyequipped and CTS has
been that right support for it. CTS has been an enormous part
of my life, and for the past few years, studies at
CTShas not only brought me
up in my knowledge, but it has alsotaughtmeinvaluableprinciples and
guidelines,
which havedirectedmeaboutwhere I should stand
according to theWord
of God and how I should set my life as an example to
thechurch.
Studyingat CTS has
taughtme how to have a proper
relationship with my family, my friends, my
church,andGod. My prayer is to
that I will seemany people receiving
Christ as theirSaviour, andbecomeHisdisciplesso thatthey would go out and
preach theWord
of God(to all the
nations).
Sri Lanka has a long Christian history of 500 years. With the gaining of independence in 1948, the status quo of Christianity shifted dramatically to become a marginalised minority religion. Buddhist nationalism, and Hindu and Islamic extremism have brought about a culture of ant-Christian sentiment, which has resulted in persecution of varying degrees. Most recently, the Church has been weakened by the rise of false teachings and the emergence of several foreign and local cults.
The Church is in great need of clear teaching of the Scriptures and doctrine so that individual believers will be able to grow in Christian maturity and live out the gospel faithfully in the face of false teachings and persecution.
CTS is responding to this need by nurturing church leaders, Christian Workers, evangelists, counsellors, teachers, and Christians in the marketplace to be discerning students and teachers of the Scriptures. With the setting up of the Spiritual Formation programme this year, CTS has intentionally widened the holistic nature of its education. At present, over 95 percent of CTS’ 550+ graduates are in active service in various fields around the country and overseas, and are sharing their learning through pastoral service, preaching, evangelising, teaching, writing, and counselling.
