When my mother was
pregnant with me, she was told that she couldn’t give birth to
me as she had a hole in her heart and at the same time she was
physically abused by my father. However, she was determined to
give birth to me and by the grace of God she gave birth to me
with no complications. My father eventually left us and I
grew up with my mom, grandmother and brother but my mother
ended up leaving me too. I was a bright student at school but
the mental traumaof my mom leaving me took a toll on
me. I prayed to God and asked him to bring my mother back and
she came back home.Around the same time my uncle
started abusing me and I attempted to suicidethree times but I always
heard God saying “I love you and I’m with you” and this is what
stopped me from committing suicide. I’ve been through a lot but
God has helped and rescued me from all my troubles. After my Ordinary level
exam my pastor asked me whether I wanted to go to seminary and
I prayed about it because I was interested in going to
seminary. By the grace of God I’m now at Lanka Bible College
and I enjoy studying and serving my savior Jesus
Lanka Bible College and Seminary is an interdenominational college and seminary providing training and education to pastors and Christian leaders in Sri Lanka. LBCS educational program is accredited by Asia Theological. The education and training we provide is integrated with theory and practice. To find out more about our institution please visit http://lbcs.edu.lk/ .
The Church that we serve is growing despite persecution and opposition but the senior leadership is largely untrained and lack proper theological and biblical training and therefore the church largely remains theologically, biblically and missionally untrained and immature. This is one of the main problems that the church faces. The church doesn’t have the sufficient amount of funds to send the next generation of leaders to be trained at seminary and therefore the future of the local church is at large uncertain. The students and graduates of this institution are being given a sound theological and biblical training that benefits the local church in many ways. The holistic training that they go through while at the seminary builds Christ-like leaders to serve the Church of Jesus Christ in Sri Lanka and in Sri Lankan Diaspora.
